James 2:22 “You see that this faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was mad complete by what he did.”
Lord, faith and actions…love with feet on it, caring with arms on it, and to be God with skin on to others is what You want from me and all of Your kids. All you require is for me to love You and to be obedient. That sounds so simple.
James 2:23 “And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.”
Paul in Romans says that Abraham believed God and was counted as righteous. James is saying that his faith AND his actions showed his faith was real. He is saying that actions not to get saved, but actions because we are saved is what count for our righteousness,
Lord, You saved us to do Your works in the world. Your perfect sacrifice frees us from the bondage of works to the freedom of the pleasure of works for your sake. Our faith with actions would make us friends of God as well! To be called the “friend of God”…the friend of the eternal, holy, most powerful and wonderful God of glory and majesty…now there is a humbling and at the same time exhilarating thought. Not because of what I do, but because of You, Lord Jesus!
