Inexpressible Joy in Grief and Trials

1 Peter 1:7 “These (grief in trials) have come so that your faith, of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire- may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”

“It will be worth it all when we see Jesus.
Life’s trials will seem so small when we see Christ.
One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race, ‘til we see Christ.”

“O soul, are you weary and troubled
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s hope for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus.
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.”

Lord, what hope and encouragement these verses bring to me.  I do want my faith to be proved genuine so that all the praise, honor and glory go to You, my precious Savior!  May I be worthy of crowns that I can cast at Your feet.

1Peter 1:8-9 “Though you have not seen Him, you love Him, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

O Lord, Peter was writing to the believers in his day, but You are speaking directly to me today.  I have not seen You, yet I love You and am filled with that inexpressible and glorious joy too!  And I, as well as countless others who are true Christians, am receiving the goal of my salvation.  I am not waiting to be saved; I am already receiving the fruits of salvation: Your daily presence through the Holy Spirit, forgiveness, joy and peace.

Thank You, Lord!  I may grieve and go through trials here, but it will be only while I am here.  I praise You, Lord, for such a precious hope and promise to get through my days in this alien land.
