They are Slaves but Preach Freedom

2 Peter 2:19 “They promise them freedom; while they themselves are slaves of depravity- for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.”

Lord, these men preach what we humans all desire…freedom and peace.  However; their meaning is much different than Yours.  Their meaning of freedom is to give into our most base cravings and they promise no repercussions.  We know that is a lie for millions die of alcohol, promiscuity, and gluttony related diseases each year!  They live a life that is driven by their lust and die a horrifying death.
They preach peace when what they really are promoting is absolute tolerance of everything…having absolutely no condemnation for any action.  "Live and let live" is their slogan.  Unfortunately, when humans are unrestrained, chaos, not peace reigns and lots of people get hurt in the process.  THAT certainly is not peace or  freedom!  It may seem like freedom for some, but it certainly is not freedom for all the victims preyed on.
Sweet Lord Jesus, thank You for Your REAL freedom!  Because of Your gift of life to me, I do not have to be a slave of my sinful nature, but am free to live above it!  It was crucified with You.  No, You did not take it away when I trusted You as Savior and Lord, but I am no longer bound by it as a slave.  Hallelujah!  Lord, please show me areas of my life where I have fallen back into slavery so I can confess and repent!
