Meat for the Very First Time

Genesis 9:1-4

Lord, You gave a brand new thing to Noah and mankind the day they came out of the arc.  For the first time in history, You told them they could eat the meat of animals.  Before this time all air breathing animals were strictly vegetarian.
No animal had  fear of humans.  Why would there be?  They had never been hunted.  Oh!  That would be why the animals all got along in the arc too!  And that also would be the reason they would not have had a problem coming to Noah to go into the arc in the first place!  Lord, Your wisdom is SO perfect.
I can picture that day when they all came out of the arc into bright sunshine and freedom to walk again on the ground, smell the vegetation, and be able to eat fresh food again. (If the dove had found an olive leaf and You were letting them out of the arc, You would not do so if there would not be food for all to eat.)
The animals would all be milling around the arc and Noah's family because they had all been together for a year and Noah and family had fed them.
In Your wisdom, verse two says that you caused fear and dread of humans to fall upon all beasts, birds, everything that moved on the ground, and even the fish in the seas.  I see two reasons for that:
  1. If the animals were never afraid of us they would never have left the area to go into all of the regions of the earth.
  2. They might never have survived because there were only 2 of each species of animals in the arc except for the ones to be used for offerings, and they would have been too easy to capture and kill for food.
Lord, I wonder how long it took Noah and his family to actually kill and eat an animal and how it felt the first time they did so.  Noah had offered burnt offerings when  they came out of the arc, so they had to be used to the killing and the smell of roasting meat.  But to taste something for the first time in history...THAT had to be something!  Was the meat just well done or burned to a crisp?  You had told them never to eat meat with the life blood still in it so I know it was not rare, or even medium well done.  No one had ever roasted or boiled meat for human consumption before...there was no Food Channel with Chef Bobby Flay to give them directions...no recipe for them to follow.  Did You do something within them for them to want to taste and eat it?  What were their comments?  Were the ladies, with their nurturing nature, reluctant to eat food that had once been like a pet?
Lord, we take so much for granted because of the lives we lead and in our shortsighted ignorance think things have always been the way things are now.  To go back and be refreshed in the knowledge of how things all began is so awe inspiring!
Thank You, Lord for Your inspired Word, that is able to teach, edify, encourage, and admonish us.
