Matthew 21:31
“Which of the two did what his father wanted?” “The first,” they
answered. Jesus said to them, “ I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and
the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did
not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And
even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him."
Lord, You have been talking with the priests and elders, and here You tell the parable about the two sons. The father had asked them both to go work in the vineyard. The first said he would and did not. The second said he would not, but then changed his mind and went.
Sweet Lord, I was like the first son! I grew up in a good home, was exposed to the Bible in church, was baptized at age 13, sang in the choir, etc. but never came to You in submission and repentance admitting I was a sinner and in need of salvation, asking You to rule and reign in my life until I was twenty-six.
You tell the priests and the elders that John came and they would not believe and repent but the tax collectors and prostitutes did. Thank You, Lord, for opening my eyes, ears, and spirit to Your truth!
