1 Corinthians 3:5 "What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you
came to believe--as the Lord has assigned to each his task."
Lord, You above all know that we humans are prone to pay more attention, honor or dishonor to a messenger than the one who sent the message. You created us to be a sensory being. In our flesh, if we cannot see, hear, smell, taste, or touch something it is hard for us to know it is real.
Paul has to address this with the Corinthians, and You still have to teach us this today. In my infancy as a believer, I followed the preaching and teaching of one pastor because I thought he was the only one who knew the truth. I was very wrong of course, but as an infant did know better. Paul is telling this church that they should have grown past that point of infancy and should have known better by then.
Lord, forgive us, Your real children, for hanging onto and hiding behind our humanness even after You redeem us. Help us...help me...to be ever growing, ever learning, and ever following You more and human preachers less.
Lord, may those I lead see You and not me, as I am only a servant to whom You have assigned a task.
