We Must Love Our Brothers

1 John 4:21 "And He has given us this command: Whoever loves God must love his brother."

Lord, Your command has the word "Must" within it.  It doesn't say "should"' or "might", or "it is preferred that they", or "it would be a great idea if they", or even "it would please Me greatly if they would".  No, this verse says that whoever loves God MUST  also love his brother.
I know that in my flesh, I take this command as a suggestion not a direct command.  Oh, Lord!  Please forgive me!  If I saw You standing or sitting with me while I dealt with a brother who was acting in an unloving way, I would treat them in a loving way.  Or if I was able to SEE You in them, the same would be true.  Well, Lord, the truth is that You ARE always with me and You DO live within them, (even if they are acting in a carnal way at the moment), so there are no good excuses not to obey this command..  There can only be confession and repentance.
Lord, may I never forget that.  Convict me quickly, Lord!  And may I never become self-righteous and offended if that same unconditional love is not returned by my Family member.
