Prophecy Never Had its Own Origin in the Will of Man

2 Peter 1:21 “For prophecy never had its own origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

            Lord, I know to some this may sound ridiculous, but since we are finite creatures and can’t even tell what may happen in the next 5 minutes, how in the world would we be able to tell anyone else what will happen hundreds of years in the future and have them come to fruition?  Oh, I know that You have given economists and others the ability to scrutinize data in the present and then do some short term projections based on past history, but You prophecy in minute detail things that will happen hundreds and sometimes thousands of years in the future and they all come true.  Men may be accused by unbelievers of having their own interpretations when they tell from Your word what is going to happen, but it is not their own idea or fabrication.

            Lord, thank You for that wonderful truth and encouragement!  You are in control of all history because You are in all time all the time and see it, and have in fact ordained it!  That gives me great comfort!
