2 Peter 1:16 “We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ¸ but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.”
Lord, as I read this verse this morning, I was comforted again that my relationship with You is built on truth! In Your providence and wisdom, You left eyewitness accounts for us to read centuries later. We humans can come up with some very clever stories because You have given us that type of mind and ability. However; You never want us to use that ability to fabricate clever stories about You and Your work.
Reading in both the Old and New Testaments, I see Your power over nature, Your enemies, evil rulers and demons, sickness, and death. I have seen Your power and intervention I in my own life and in the lives of those with whom I have the joy to share this earthly existence, so I can write eyewitness accounts too!
You and You alone are worthy of all praise, power and majesty!
Ever since I was a new Christian and I learned about the “rapture” found in 2 Thessalonians 4:13-17, I have been listening for the “Trumpet of God” daily. I don’t know if I will die first or be wonderfully blessed to be able to experience this, but knowing You could come at any time has greatly helped me to be able to endure the trials of life. I know that they will not last for all eternity, and Your return could be today!
Even so, Lord Jesus, quickly come!”
