1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord
comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose
the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise
from God.
Lord, I think the note in my "Life Application Bible" helps me understand this verse best.
"It is tempting to judge a fellow Christian, evaluating whether or not he or she is a good follower of Christ. But only God knows a person's heart, and He is the only one with the right to judge...When you judge someone, you automatically consider yourself better, and this is pride."
Lord, You have called Your Family to be discerning and to search the scriptures to see if what is being taught lines up with what they say. It is an entirely different matter to judge another's service to You.
Father, keep me ever humble and mindful of Your right to judge. As I am not responsible for anyone else's service than my own...and that should keep me busy enough...keep me mindful that You are the rightful judge not me. Paul wrote and told the Corinthians not to judge until You returned and that was over 2000 years ago! I pray that I will follow You so closely that in the end You would be able to give me praise...not for my sake, but for Yours!
