1 Corinthians 4:18-19a "Some of you have become arrogant, thinking I will not visit you again. But I will come—and soon—if the Lord lets me,"
Lord, it is apparent that the Corinthians have taken the church into their own hands ignoring You as their Ultimate Authority.
Oh Lord, Your people are still such a sinful lot. We see this situations in families as well. If "Dad", the ultimate authority in the home has to be gone for an extended period of time on a business trip or military deployment, especially the "tweens" and teenagers start to become arrogant and want their own way and have their own ideas as to how things ought to be run. But when dad's return in imminent, things change drastically.
Lord, in Your Family, we can sometimes lose sight of the fact that You, our ultimate authority, are always with us. We cannot see You, but You are always here, and Your return for me is always imminent. Lord, please keep me ever mindful of this truth so that I might never become that arrogant one who thinks my ways are better than Yours. Forgive me for the times I have failed in this, Dearest Lord. I love You and want Your will, not mine to be done.
