1 Peter 4:15 “If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or a thief, or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler.”
Lord, one thing before we get into this verse today. I was reminded of something I have known for ages, but have never really thought about much. I am sure that we all have had to deal with abuse (hopefully just verbal as painful as that can be) and some with betrayal by a family member, co-worker, or simple acquaintance because of our faith. As always, You are to be our example.
I was reminded that the very night you would be betrayed by Judas, you, in loving kindness and humility knelt in front of him and took his smelly, filthy, calloused feet in your hands that would the very next day be pierced for his sins, and rubbed, scrubbed, and bathed his feet, washing away all of the remnants of the world he had tread through for a day, but maybe for days on end.
Lord, if You did that, I am to be willing to do the same, either literally or figuratively, every day. Lord, Your love is so radical!
Lord, I should not be surprised that “meddler” is included in this list of criminal activity, but I must confess that I am. We have all had, or maybe have been, meddlers. It is very annoying and troublesome indeed to have a meddler in my life, but I would not have it be added in a list like this. But You equate it with criminal acts! Meddling is to be seen as that serious. Lord, help me never to be a meddler!
