We are Freed from Judging Others Who Hurt Us

1 Peter 4:5 “But they will have to give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.”

O Lord, this takes such a weight off our shoulders as Christians.  When we are hurt either emotionally or physically by others our first reaction (in the flesh) is first: I don’t deserve to be treated this way, and second: I must avenge to have justice.  But when we become Christians, we can honestly suffer with joy and peace.

You have told us that our first reaction is the sin of pride and we need to confess and repent for we are to give grace to others as You have given grace to us.  Secondly, Your word says to leave room for Your wrath as vengeance is Yours and You will repay.  You are the only righteous judge.  Even the best, most godly, human judge can make a misjudgment…but not YOU!  We can, as it says in James, 1 count it all joy!  We do not have to live our lives trying to pursue justice, but are freed from that yoke of slavery!
The Christian life is so radical and I love it! Thank You, thank You, Lord, for making it possible!

We also need to keep in the fore of our thinking that if the perpetrator of the hurt is not one of Yours, they will pay dearly in hell for all eternity for that sin, so need to pray earnestly for their salvation instead of condemnation.
