1 Peter 5:13 “She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends her greetings, and so does my son Mark.”
Lord, You are omniscient and inspired this writing. Who does Peter speak of as, ”She who is in Babylon”, and why does not mention her name? And is “my son Mark” referring to John Mark who wrote the gospel, Peter’s own son, or some other man that Peter won to You? I know they will be in Heaven with me so maybe I’ll meet them there.
Holaman’s Bible Handbook states that the lady in Babylon refers to the church in Rome. I find that odd because Babylon is in Iraq not Italy. Was he referring that they were in captivity like their brothers of old? Holaman does not mention Mark at all so, Lord, that one is still a mystery to me. We know that Peter was married, but there never was a mention of his biological son at all. If it is, it must have been a joy for Peter to know his son walked in the truth. But if it were either of the other possibilities, he must have had the same joy to have Mark with him.
Lord, Thank You for sharing with us these names of brothers and sisters we will meet in glory. I pray that when we are worshipping You around the throne, we will actually get to meet and know them too.
