Faith to do the Simple Things

James 2:20-21 “You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?  Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?”
Oh Lord, what faith Abraham had in You and in Your promises to him!  Would that my faith would be that strong when You ask me to do the hard things…or even the easy things for that matter.  Sometimes You must see me much like Naaman…willing to do the hardest thing You ask, but not willing to do the easiest, mundane, and simple things in life You ask of me.
Lord, please forgive me for balking at doing the little simple things simply because You ask it of me.  My job requires me to be on a dialing system that tries to contact each of our students by phone.  We are required to be on this system for a certain amount of hours a day.  It can become so tedious, Lord…leaving what seems like hundreds of messages and not talking to a single one, sending email after email and never getting a response.  Lord, it is the effort to contact that You require of me…not the outcome.  It is such a simple thing You ask, and yet there are days I really do not feel like doing it and would rather do something more exciting…more “Spiritual”.  Oh Lord, please forgive this foolish heart.
