James 1:26 Who am I in the Mirror

February 26 , 2011
James 1:23 “Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at himself in the mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.,” NIV or “what manner of man he is.”  KJV.
Lord, I believe You are saying here that I can read Your word, go to church and Sunday School, hear and read wonderful and helpful teaching, and even agree with You in the emotion of the moment and the setting and regretfully leave and return to what I was like before and never change at all.
Lord, I may even make excuses and to why I did not implement what You commanded and excuse my sinful behavior because of forgetfulness.  What I am really guilty of is rebellion.
Oh sweet Lord, save me from myself!  Let me never forget what Your holiness looks like.  Help me to love others as You do regardless of who they are, what they say, and what they do.  Help me to remember to pray for those in authority, those who are blinded by the Evil One, and for those carnal Christians who have “forgotten what manner of man he is.”
