Hoarded Wealth

James 5:3b "You have hoarded wealth in the last days."

            O Lord! Things are no different now than they were when James wrote this except we are so much closer to the day of Your return.  We are seeing signs of Your eminent return almost daily all over the world, and now more so in the US in horrific natural disasters.  Just yesterday over 125 devastating tornados ripped through 5 states here in the South leaving millions without food, shelter, and jobs as great swaths were left as rubble.  Never before had tornados gone through urban areas or through the mountains, but they did Wednesday and yesterday.

            Americans usually rise to the occasion and give sacrificially to help in these times. How many, Lord, will hang onto the excess of what they have now in fear of a disaster striking them in the future?    How many will just be greedy and selfish and look after their own needs and forget their suffering neighbors around them?  How many will take advantage of this situation and become richer still?

            Lord, how worthless this will all be when You return.  Money and possessions will mean nothing.  Help us all to remember that each and every day and hold very loosely to what You have given.
