Slanderous Judge

James 4:11 “Brothers, do not slander one another.  Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him, speaks against the law ad judges it.  When you judge the law you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.”

Lord, if this is not enough reason for me to unconditionally love my brothers and sisters in Christ, I do not know what would be.  Besides, this is Your command, not suggestion.  Lord, I have enough things I deal with each day, sins of commission and omission; I certainly do not need to be looking at others, but to YOU constantly.

There would be only two reasons to slander and judge another:
1)      Pride and insecurity- If I blow someone else’s candle out mine will glow brighter.
2)      Pride and self-righteousness-thinking, “I would never act in such a fashion!” .  Therefore I am more righteous then they.
Both are sins indeed and convict the slanderous judge themselves.
Lord keep me from this horrible temptation!  I want to be nothing but a blessing to all whether inside or outside the faith.
