James 2:6a-7 “Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? Are they not the ones who are slandering the noble name of Him to whom You belong?”
O Lord, how the world and sadly those in Your church worship celebrities. Most of them (happily not all), ridicule your followers and drag Your name and all You stand for through the mud both privately and publicly. Most would not ever utter Your name in reverence, but are all too quick to use it as a curse word.
Why would we in Your church honor them or give them preference? They are in the tabloids which glory in the messes they have made of their lives; broken marriages and families, spousal and child abuse, drug and alcohol dependence, and their love of the Eastern and New Age religions.
If the church is to give them deference at all, it should be to pray for their salvation!
